whatever happened to the
system we made
when public forum's cut off
by a barricade
small man can't stand up to
puppet tories
what's a family do when the
money's spent
and mother have to choose
between food and rent
the unforunate left out by
the turn to the right
organized by an over
priviledge thatcherite
city's shut down
factories cold and grey
sees the picket lines
and turns the other way
doesn't care to hear
the angry cries
while all those falling through the cracks
are wondering why
a penny made is a penny
burned
so you can afford your right
to learn
legislature sponsered
intimidation
of students who want their
education
but when peaceful demonstration
falls on deaf ears
the sound of smashing glass
is all they hear
can't see the ears on
poverty's face
from a private boys club
in a walled up place
and among the youth
frustration grows
with no money and no clue
about where to go
slowly gravitating to
the factory
hanging a tired head in
defeat
on an assembly line
day after day
with the idea it had
to be this way
no room for hope just shrinking
dreams
they're finished living
just after 18
it's a subtle reminder
to stay in your place
cuz your left with
so much time to waste
slaving 9 to 5 just to
make ends meet
thinking now and then
if this is how it should be
but the fortunate go off
to succeed
if a bank account
meets all their needs
education a privlege for
the upper crust
and the lower orders can
only look up
